Coast Guards – Defending Waters against Oil Spills
Marine applications, especially coast guard and ports are required to have a contingency plan in case of oil spills. In the Indian context, the Indian Coast Guard has come up with the NOSDCP – National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan. The plan is a guiding light in the type of equipment to use during oil spills and the minimum inventory to be held by each port in India which is categorized as A, B, and C depending on the size and operations. Types of skimmers, marine oil separators, trash removal equipment, etc. are specified in these kinds of detailed plans of coast guards across the globe.
